Meet Your Guide

William Apgar

William “Bill” Apgar grew up with East Grand Lake as his backyard, learning its waters like a second language. In a town where everyone knows everyone, he’s the guy people trust to lead them to the best fishing spots, share a few laughs, and make sure they leave with more than just a great catch, they’ll have a great story for memories. Whether you’re after the thrill of reeling in a trophy fish or just want to soak in the peace of the lake, Bill makes every trip feel like time well spent. With him, you’re not just hiring a guide, you’re fishing with a friend who knows exactly where the best memories are waiting to be made.

What To Expect On Your Trip

Full-Day Adventure – Flexible Scheduling Available

We start in the morning and fish throughout the day, with a break for a relaxing shore lunch. Standard trips run from 8 AM to 5 PM, but we can adjust hours based on conditions and your preferences.

Personalized Small Group Experience

For the best experience, trips are limited to two anglers per boat, ensuring a hands-on, guided adventure. Have a bigger group? Let’s coordinate in advance to set up additional boats and guides.

Tackle & Bait Provided – Just Bring Yourself

No need to pack gear—we provide high-quality rods, reels, and a selection of tackle and bait tailored to the fish we’re targeting. Whether it’s bass, salmon, or trout, we’ll have the right setup ready for you. You are welcome to bring your own gear if you desire.

Traditional guide's shore lunch

A Maine fishing trip isn’t complete without a traditional guide-style shore lunch. Midway through the day, we’ll stop at a scenic spot to prepare a fresh-cooked meal over an open fire. It’s the perfect way to refuel before heading back out on the water.

Wildlife Sightings – More Than Just Fishing

Out here, every trip is more than just fishing. Keep your eyes open for eagles soaring overhead, moose wading along the shoreline, and loons calling across the water. You never know what you’ll see on the lake.

Where Experience Meets Adventure

This Is More Than a Fishing Trip

A day on the water isn’t just about catching fish, it’s about knowing where to find them, understanding the rhythm of the lake, and making every cast count. With William Apgar as your guide, you’re not just getting a fishing trip. You’re getting years of experience, local knowledge, and a day tailored to the way you like to fish. Whether you’re after big smallmouth bass, lake trout, or just a peaceful escape, Bill knows the best spots, the best techniques, and how to make sure you walk away with a great story to tell.

A True Maine Wilderness Experience

One moment, you’re fighting a trophy smallmouth, feeling the rush as it tugs against the line. The next, you glance toward the shore and see a massive moose wading through the shallows, completely unaware of your presence. Or maybe it’s the sudden shadow of a bald eagle soaring above, scanning the water for its own catch. The wilderness doesn’t follow a schedule it just happens, and when it does, it creates the Maine experience.”
